| What Does Football Mean To You? |

I knew about this wonderful sport since when...about the age of 7 or 8.Those days the football matches were shown on Malaysian channels unlike today all on ASTRO. It was always about the English Premier League. I never knew about La Liga(Spain), Serie A(Italian) and Bundesliga(German) till I was about 12 or 13 years old. But it was fun. I began to have this special interest in football since then. In fact, I started reading because of football. Unbelievable isn't it?
So, I have a few clubs listed as my favorites. Sorry to all Man Utd friends, I am not a fan of the Red Devils. Sorry to all Chelsea haters, I am a fan of the Mighty Blues. It's not that I am a supporter of Chelsea just because they were champions(04/05), fyi I have been their fan since I was 11, when Ruud Gullit was the striker and manager at that time. I see many people nowadays support clubs because they are winning. There's no passion. If their team loses, never once I've seen a person who admits a loss because their team played bad. They will give reasons such as, it was mere luck, bad weather, bad ground, biased referee, injury and so on. Not once in my life I've ever heard any fans except for a Liverpool fan(my brother) who says,"They deserve to loose the match because they played like crap". Have you ever heard a Man Utd fan congratulating a Liverpool fan or vice versa. Never happens. Well, where is the sportsmanship in us?Besides Chelsea, my favorite clubs would be AC Milan(because of Paolo Maldini).
Chelsea!Chelsea! It's gonna be a Blues Day!That's the anthem of my favorite team. Reason why I like Chelsea would be because of Ruud Gullit's days as manager and player. He had the guts to tell the British press that English people cannot play football. There's no speed or skill. Of course, nowadays EPL is much different than what used to be. Plus, he also said,"You want to watch good football, go to Italy,". No doubt his passion for Italian football was still there because he was a former AC Milan player joining forces with fellow Dutchman Marco Van Basten. Ruud Gullit challenged the English press that he will win the FA Cup. He brought in 3 Italian players, Gianluca Vialli(later became manager), Roberto Di Matteo and of course the legendary
Gianfranco Zola. He actually carried the FA Cup as he had challenged the British Press. They beat Boro in the finals(2-0). This actually was the reason I start supporting Chelsea because of a brave remark was proved right. A team which was always below the top 4 leaders could actually reach to this level. I support them no matter what.
AC Milan is like Liverpool or Man Utd in Italy. Also known as The Red Devils in San Siro. Reason I support AC Milan is because of their former captain, Paolo Maldini. He is such a passionate footballer and also his love for AC Milan is so great. He was willing to take a 30% pay cut if AC Milan decided to keep him in San Siro(due to financial issue). Tell me, are there any players such as Paolo Maldini?
Come on people, enjoy football and stop the humiliation towards other clubs or teams. I realize the football fans will boo Frank Lampard or Steven Gerard but when it comes to England, they will be one of your main cheering. How is that? Come on football lovers, does not matter man or woman, girl or boy, let us enjoy good football and leave the crap talk out of it. All football teams are good and great teams but not all are perfect. All managers are good managers and they know what they are doing. Do not boo them just because they put in a player you don't like in the team or because they rotate the players. It's all in the game.
